1-4-4-PRESENTATION FINAL INTERFACE

After 8 weeks of work we present to you our final interface, the musical pen! Our given collection is Ninja Tunes the record label, and our given user group are kids. To connect these two, we have created an interface as a tool for expression/communication/enjoyment. The interface consists of the pen itself, the exercise sheets and the programs that make the interface work. The pen had been 3D printed from plastic, the exercise sheets have been printed on paper and the programs have been created with the monumental help of the interaction station (thanks Jeremy and Boris!). The interface works in the following way: by stimulating the user to draw, therefore expressing, communicating and or enjoying themselves, the pen sends an energy reading to the program, the program then classifies the data according to how high or low (or no) energy the energy is, and finally the program starts playing music that corresponds to the energy given. This cycle is repeated every 20 seconds, until the user puts down the pen for more than 40 seconds. This interface can be used in a domestic setting as well as a educational setting. The long term goal for this interface, if it were to become a product, is to have a website on which will be a link to download exercise sheets and print them and consequently handing them to the user. The greater goal of this interface is to give an insight to the parents, caretakers, teachers into how the user may be feeling and act accordingly. Further development is necessary to strengthen the accuracy of these results meant to provide an insight, so what we present to you is a mere first step into the development of said product.
