Notes:

What?
- a device or program enabling a user to communicate with a computer, a Graphical User Interface (GUI)
- a point where two systems, subjects, organizations (or surface, place, zone, space, boundary etc.) meet and interact

in this term: encouraged to approach and interpret the notion of what can be considered an "interface" from multiple perspectives

context
=>
<=
interface
=>
<=
user

interfaces can facilitate exchange, behavior (manipulation, misinformation, guidance, instruction), interactions

my context is the given collection and the user the given user

Assignment:
- Individually collect 90 interfaces
- DOCUMENT VISUALLY (at least 2 photos, sketches)
- Use ALL questions (but avoid overlap) to add description and analysis of each interface to the visual documentation of my interfaces (can add additional questions)
- Use miro board to gather interfaces (upload and organize however I want)

GOAL IS TO MAKE AN INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPE that connects the user and collection

kickoff: Exploring Interfaces
11.04.2022
Notes:

- make analysis of interfaces extreme and absurd even (not about being right or wrong)
- good phrase: connection of individual and social world
- body language as interface
- interfaces can affect our behavior by manipulating us (supermarket)
- textile as an interface that reflects our sense of self in relation to others

https.//exactitudes.com/

- invite the reader to FLIP
- idea for collection design (ex. forks (where it comes from, when, size, colors that correspond, who donated, etc.))

rabbit hole websites:
www.pentagram.com (designer website with whole process (briefing, goals...))
www.belowthesurface.amsterdam (good collection design with timeline)

zoomed out pictures show CONTEXT
- try to minimize overlap of questions and make a distinctive description

do what you enjoy and if you don't STOP (also applies as finding enjoyment within)

In class exercise:
10+ interfaces within the academy (open as possible)
=> look for points of contact!
19.04.2022
looking beyond the surface
Notes:

- within the interfaces I've already collected go deeper beyond the surface, take a closer look (ex. jar of taco sauce consists of the glass jar itself, the label, the typography of the label, and so on)
- extend visual documentation to show the specifics of the interfaces within the others (zoom in on the photo I already have, add a graphic layer, crop differently, etc.)
- continue answering the questions, but not all of them if THEY OVERLAP (make sure the interface is well described with the relevant questions) but also add own questions of necessary
- consider how our senses, our frame of reference and past experiences can play a part on how we relate to an interface
- take advantage of the overlap and connection between classes

make the user specific, focus on the user we want and how to make it more specific to them, find a way to tailor the interface to our group, shape colors materials specific to our age group
